Our past foretells a compelling future

DanoneWave is part of the legacy of Isaac Carasso, the founder of Danone, who was an early pioneer in bringing health through food after he established a small yogurt factory in Barcelona, Spain in 1919.

  • Our Canadian roots trace back to Jude Delisle, who set up a namesake yogurt business in Montreal, Quebec shortly after the turn of the 20th century. Among his first customers were doctors who prescribed yogurt as a treatment to patients. By 1967, Delisle had become the leading yogurt producer in Canada. In 1968, the company modernized its production with a new facility in Boucherville, a suburb of Montreal. Thanks to a steady stream of innovation, including new products and expansion into new markets, the company enjoyed substantial growth.

In 1993, Delisle joined the Danone Group, and the company officially became Danone Canada in 1997. DanoneWave was formed in April 2017, when Danone acquired WhiteWave Foods and united two companies in North America with a shared commitment to purpose, growth, and good food.
